2019 Summer Band Camp
The 2019 Summer Band Camp for the Spirit of the Winds Marching Band will occur August 5-9, 12, 14, & 16. We are extremely excited to begin the new year with everyone, and look forward to the fun and growth we will experience together. We have almost 80 High School students registered for band for the 2019-20 school year! Go Whirlwinds!
The Floydada Band Camp will host an impressive staff of guest teaching artists from the West Texas area who will help prepare the instrumental sections to reach their full potential.
With the recent release of the live-action remake of Aladdin we have chosen an entertaining show for the Fall marching season titled Moods of Arabia by William Owens, which is sure to be enjoyable for the band and audience alike. Additioanlly, we have a handful of new stands tunes we hope to incorporate into our repertoire, including Sucker (Jonas Brothers), Poker Face (Lady Gaga), and Dynamite (Taio Cruz).
Below you can find a general schedule for the camp, in addition to the available student leadership positions and their descriptions. Elections will occur the first day of Band Camp.
There will be a variety of fun activities, ice breakers, and team building that will occur over the duration of the camp. Please make sure to prepare adequately by dressing appropriately for the heat and bringing a water bottle. Water will be available throughout the camp, both inside and out. Your health is of paramount importance to us.
